GRACE + TRUTH = PEACE
Seed values work as relational tools for us to develop our community into the likeness of Christ. Our values are to be lived out in action. John 1 says that Jesus incarnated the values of "grace and truth" therefore; we want them to be our values.
We will provide an atmosphere where all will be invited to move closer to God. ALL. Grace is the good news that you are accepted as you are not as you should be. Grace is a space in which you can freely process openly without judgement or incur further pain of your short comings. Grace is sloppy and cheap if not accompanied by Truth. "Grace works outside of Karma" - Bono This means that we are not getting what we deserve...we are recieving much better than we deserve! 2 Cor. 12:8-9, Heb. 4:16, Acts 6:8
Truth is more about a relationship than being right. Truth is the timeless words, concepts, laws and epihanies that God brought us to live by. This is different than collecting information but the digestion of God's truth brings transformation. Following Jesus, who is the Truth, brings about a revolution of change in you, your community and culture. When we tell truth it must be with grace otherwise it can be harsh and lacking appeal. The truth of God is a Seed that dwells deep the heart of all. It must be cultivated! John 17:17, Eph. 1:13-14, James 1:18, Psalm 43:3, John 8:31-32
Peace should be the result of the unity we find in Grace and Truth. Romans 15:5 is an encouragement to live in a way with Jesus (Full of Grace & Truth) that we would be one voice that glorifies God, our Father. It is clear from scripture that peace making is a difficult but worthwhile ministry of reconcilatory blessing! The gospel is full of lifegiving conflict with peaceful resolution.
